Normally, when music is uploaded to YouTube, the system that protects copyright (called Content ID) can block the video or stop it from earning money. That’s a problem if you want fans and content creators to share and promote your game.
Streamer-Safe solves that. When you use Player-1 music in your game, we make sure that anyone sharing your gameplay - whether it’s a trailer, a Let’s Play, or a review - can upload and monetise their video without problems.
It protects three groups at once:
Game developers: your community can market your game for you.
Content creators: they can make videos safely and keep their revenue.
Artists: their music is still protected when it’s used outside of gaming.
Licenses unlock the music, memberships unlock the scale.
Standard License
When you purchase a track from Player-1, it comes with five free video protections. If you or a creator upload a video using that track, you can register the link in your Player-1 account. Once confirmed, the Content ID claim is removed and the video can safely go live.
Hero & Guild Memberships
Memberships are an additional service that sits on top of your existing licensed tracks. They don’t provide access to the catalogue - you still need to purchase the tracks you want. What memberships do is make your licensed repertoire Streamer-Safe at scale.
Every membership account’s library is updated to host keywords tied to your game. Instead of using individual links, the member is able to input keywords about their game - such as its title, a main character, or a location. If any creator uses those terms in their video, the claim is automatically cleared. Creators don’t need codes or special steps. If they mention your game, they’re safe, and there is no limit to this reach to enable true viral potential.
Memberships are available at two levels:
Hero Membership: for indie developers and teams of up to 5.
Guild Membership: for larger teams of 6 or more.
As well as there being no streamer-safe limit, there’s also no limit to the number of licensed tracks in your account that can be covered under a membership, and the cost doesn’t scale with the number of tracks. This means the more music you license, the more cost-effective the membership becomes.
What URLs do:
Your standard Player-1 account includes 5 URL slots per licensed track. These allow you to specify up to five creator channels or individual video URLs that should be exempt from Content ID claims when they upload content featuring your game.
How to use them:
Ensure the YouTube video is set to private.
Add the full URL of the creator’s YouTube channel or a specific video.
Click ‘Submit’ and await the green tick for confirmation.
Make the YouTube video public.
Content ID will automatically ignore those URLs for any Player-1 music you licensed.
Best practices:
URL’s uploaded are permanent - be strategic with the allocation
Use URLs for creators you know or want to support directly.
We recommend reserving these URL allocations for your own YouTube channel’s trailers, news channels or influencers.
What keywords do:
Keywords are available with the Streamer-Safe membership and replace your 5 URL slots.
They allow you to protect entire categories of content automatically, based on text found in video titles, descriptions, or metadata. You have keyword functionality per each licensed track.
When a video contains your chosen keywords and features your licensed track in-game, Content ID will allow-list the upload automatically.
How to use them:
For each player-1 license, add the keywords your players or creators naturally use when posting about your game.
Ensure each keyword is in quotations and each keyword is comma separated. For example, “one”, “two”, “three”
Click ‘Submit’ and await the green tick for confirmation.
Player-1 will do the rest automatically - When any YouTube video matches any of your keywords, your music is authorised for that upload.
Best practices:
Include your game title, common abbreviations, event names (e.g., “v1.3 update”, “Arena Mode”), characters, locations, community tags, map names etc and any other unique phrases tied to gameplay.
Avoid generic terms (“music”, “soundtrack”, “shooter”) - they produce irrelevant matches.
You can amend keywords anytime - review your keyword list occasionally as your community grows and refers to your game.
Keywords are how Streamer-Safe recognises content about your game. When setting them up, our suggestions include:
Use your game’s title, exactly as players will write it.
Add your main characters’ names, especially if they’re distinctive.
Include key locations or worlds that players are likely to mention.
Avoid generic words like “game” or “playthrough,” as they won’t help.
The more unique your keywords are to your game, the more effective Streamer-Safe will be. Some generic words will be blocked (such as “the”, or “trailer”) to avoid exploitation of the artists we’re proud to represent, as well as keep your efforts tailored. This function is based on honesty but also routinely monitored - Check out our membership Terms & Conditions for more info.
Games grow when people can share them. Streamer-Safe means creators can cover your game without worrying about copyright strikes. It gives indie teams a way to reach new players without extra marketing spend, and it helps larger studios manage community content smoothly at scale.
At the same time, artists are looked after - their music remains protected where it should be, ensuring they’re paid fairly.
Player-1 is expanding with more music, more features, and more ways to connect games and creators through music.
We’re also building a community hub - a place where developers, artists, and creators can feed back, share ideas, and help shape how music works in games.
We’re happy to take advice and guidance about how to improve Streamer-Safe, and anyone is welcome to message us directly at info@player-1.com.
